Start spreading the news

If I wasn't so tired right now I'd still be excited. As it is, I was so excited last night that I couldn't sleep. Thus the sleepiness of today. But it's still there and I'll tell you why.

I'm taking a mini-vacation. I'm going to New York City. Yee Haw (excuse the southerness - NO I did not just say that). And I'm leaving a week from Monday.

I really can't believe it honestly. It's so last minute and spur of the moment for me. I never just buy a plane ticket and go off somewhere for a few days. Seriously - this is new.

But I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Basically I was at work yesterday and my friend mentioned she was going to New York for an audition. I was thrilled for her. She told me she would be staying a few days so she could visit the city but she was sad she was going by herself. So I said, almost jokingly "I should go with you!" Next thing I know I'm trying to find a resonable plane fare online with only a little over a week in advance. I'm sure I overpaid a bit but who the hell cares?! I'm going to New York City!

I haven't been in 10 years. I can't believe it's been that long. We're getting tickets to some play Ethan Hawke is in (I can't remember the name - I should care shouldn't I?) and I think we are going to do a big night out on the town the last night we are there. Because I have never been to New York without a parent or a school group so I've never gotten a chance to explore the city as an adult. And shopping. I must shop.

Okay exciteness is waking me up. Anyone have suggestions for NYC must-see/must dos? And I'm not talking about the typical tourism. Been there, done that - don't need to do it again.
